Abstract

THE POLICY OF MEMORY IN THE PRICARPATHIANS REGARDING SOVIET REPRESSION IN 1939-1953 Summary. The aim of the study. The author reveals the process of formation of the policy of memory in Prykarpattia regarding Stalin's repressions in 1939-1953. The research methodology is based on the principles of historicism, systematics, verification, objectivity, as well as the use of general scientific (analysis, synthesis, generalization) and special-historical (historical-genetic, historical-typological, historical-systemic) methods. The scientific novelty is that for the first time in historiography the efforts of public, scientific and state structures in the matter of memorialization of the memory of the repressions of the Soviet totalitarian regime in Ivano-Frankivsk region in the conditions of independent Ukraine are analyzed. Conclusions. In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, in the late 1980s, Memorial activists became aware of the crimes of the totalitarian regime and the organization of memorial sites began. At the present stage, there are a number of museum and memorial complexes in the region, among which the Demyaniv Laz memorial complex stands out, and local governments pay considerable attention to the formation of memory policy in the region.
