Abstract:	The article reveals the problem of the formation of reading culture of children and youth in Ukraine. On the basis of the experimental research, the tendency of the decrease of reading activity of modern pupils is grounded. Reading interests of children and youth are defined. Relevant tasks of pedagogical community concerning the popularization of the book and the formation of personality reading competence are submitted.
