Ідеологічно-військове протистояння між винищувальними батальйонами та підрозділами УПА на Прикарпатті в 40-х рр. ХХ ст.

Abstract

Adamovych S.V. Ideological and military confrontation between the exterminatory battalions and divisions of the UPA on the Precarpathia in the 40’s of the 20th century. The paper analyzes the attempts of the Soviet repressive and punitive system to use the destroyer battalions («yastrubky») to fight against the units of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. The author proves that the exterminatory battalions had not strong support among the Ukrainians, served collaboration function without its own ideological base and not provided significant assistance to the punitive squads of NKVS to fight against the UPA. Instead, in all regions of the Western Ukraine «yastrubky» committed crimes with the provocative purposes.
