Abstract: The article is given a shot to analyze the process of creating and operating a camp for interned and captured prisoners in Kosachev, a suburb of Kolomyja in 1918-1919. The basis for the study were archival documents and materials from the Republic of Poland, from the History Museum of Kolomyja City, historical and historiographic exploration. It is proved and argued the thesis about the need for deconstruction of the myths of „Kosachev Hell”, „Kosachev Kat” (about the doctor in Petro Petrushevich camp, who was accused of inaction that caused mass deaths). An attempt is made to prove the groundlessness of the thesis about the violent treatment of the Western Ukrainian state against those who did not want its recognition and resisted.
