The article is devoted to spiritual choral music of modern Ukrainian composers as a tool of internal personal development in students of higher music educational institutions of Ukraine. We have analyzed the large scale works of leading composers: Yurii Alzhniev, Hanna Havrylets, Lesia Dychko, Viktor Kaminskyi, Ivan Karabyts, Oleksandr Kozarenko, Viktor Muzhchyl, Viktoriia Polova, Valentyn Sylvestrov, Myroslav Skoryk, Yevhen Stankovych, Viktor Stepurko, Mykhailo Shukh and Ihor Shcherbakov. Review and theoretical-methodological analysis of works of modern Ukrainian composers have been done on the levels of program and genre. We have focused on canonicity of church genres in the liturgical process. As the spiritual dimension can be formed in the process of purposeful activity aimed at manifestation of spirituality, mastering of the spiritual works at higher music educational institutions occurs at the classes of individual conducting, choral classes, such disciplines as “Modern Ukrainian Music Culture”, “Analysis of Music Forms”, “Cantoral Studies”, in the process of working on theses for the degree of Bachelor or Master.uk_UA
