Abstract: The dynamization of the processes of creation and use of nouns with the meaning of the female person, or feminization, has a historically determined linguistic and social character. The defining linguistic factor is the tradition of forming relative masculine and feminine nouns on a folk basis, which has not been interrupted from the early period to the present. An extraordinary factor is the socialization of women, the development of their social functions at different historical stages, and today – in the new national and world space. In the derivation of feminitives on the past synchronous sections, productive and unproductive word-forming means were used, which hardly changed their status in diachrony. However, at the present stage in the word formation of feminitives the ancient unproductive suffix -in (i) is largely activated. Today, the actualization of the word-forming type -in (i) is due to the word-forming ability of this suffix - the ability to form feminitives from different bases, especially from masculinities that did not have female equivalents before. This leads to their usual use and consolidation at the regulatory level.
